The Present Simple Tense

FORMATION:

  • BARE INFINITIVE + S or ES –  for the third person singular (he, she, it)

- He lives in Belgrade.

-She speaks English.

  • BARE INFINITIVE – for all other persons

- I live in Belgrade.

- You work in London.

- We speak English.

- They drink tea in the morning.

INTERROGATIVE FORM:

  • DOES + Subject + BARE INFINITIVE? – for the third person singular
  • DO + Subject + BARE INFINITIVE? – for all other persons
Does she go there often?
Do you speak English?

NEGATIVE FORM:

  • Subject + DOESN’T + BARE INFINITIVE – for the third person singular
  • Subject + DON’T + BARE INFINITIVE – for all other persons
No, she doesn’t go there often.
No, I don’t speak English.
